Painting the Bold Coast of Schoodic
Plein Air Painting Workshop with Philip Frey
September 22-24, 2010   (9:00 am - 4 pm each day)

Join artist Philip Frey for this three day plein air painting workshop and vacation on the beautiful bold coast of the Schoodic Peninsula in downeast Maine.  We will paint on location at various spots including the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park.  Our focus will be on creating dynamic compositions, color palette choices, spirited brush work, best practices as well as demonstrations, individual instruction and daily critiques. Bring your medium of choice: oil or acrylic.  Come prepared for coastal Maine weather and pack a lunch for each day.

Plein Air Landscape Painting with Acrylics

Paint with professional artist Philip Frey in this one day intensive workshop, learning to use GOLDEN OPEN™ acrylics. They are a “true departure from all other acrylics and remain wet far longer than other acrylics”. The morning and afternoon sessions will consist of painting outdoors creating a few paintings with a focus on composition, color palette choices, brush work as well as demonstrations and individual instruction by the artist. Students should have prior experience with acrylics or oils. Come prepared for the spring Maine weather. We will paint indoors if necessary. There will be an hour lunch break so, please bring your own lunch. For intermediate and advanced skill levels.
